Who can enroll at Gorman Learning Charter Network?
Gorman Learning Charter Network is a K-12 California public charter school and one of the pioneers in California independent study, helping students thrive for more than 20 years!
We accept enrollment for students in grades K-12 who live in the following counties:
- San Bernardino
- Los Angeles
- Orange County
Due to the high number of LA County families interested in enrolling in Gorman Learning Center SBSC for the 2022-2023 school year, we will need to hold a lottery for this school in this area. It will be held Tuesday, June 28th at 10am. The students who will be included in this lottery are those who submitted an Enrollment Interest Form for Gorman Learning Center SBSC and who live in LA County. Those families will be contacted by a Community Liaison with more information prior to the lottery. Gorman Learning Center and our other areas do not need to hold a lottery at this time.
Gorman Learning Center San Bernardino/Santa Clarita Los Angeles County Enrollment Lottery for interested families in the Santa Clarita area for 2022-23 school year.
* NOTE: Please note, due to the fact that randomizer.org was used to randomly generate the lottery list, the “L” at the front of the numbers issued to students has been removed. The list below will be the student numbers without the “L” as it was directly pulled from radomizer.org.
Frequently Asked Questions?
How does our program work?
Each student/family is assigned to a Personalized Learning Teacher (PLT). The PLT works with the parent(s)/guardian(s) to create a personalized learning plan for each student. This plan will include curriculum for core subjects and may include supplemental methods of learning such as: print, online, or in person workshops, community partner classes, tutoring, and more. The PLT will give students their assignments for each Learning Period and the student will be expected to complete those assignments using the provided curriculum and supplemental services.
What is required of a Parent/Guardian who chooses Gorman?
All Parent/Guardians are responsible for the day-to-day teaching and monitoring of students. The student and parent/guardian must meet with the Personalized Learning Teacher once a month in person (at least every 20 days). At least 80% or more of the students core education takes place in the home. Parents/Guardians are responsible for the daily scoring and/or correcting of their students work.
What about curriculum?
Gorman believes in having a wide variety of curriculum for parents/guardians to choose from. Parents/Guardians work with their Personalized Learning Teacher to choose curriculum that fits the students needs. Gorman uses core curriculum aligned with the CA State Standards. Core subjects include: Math, Language Arts/English, Science, Social Studies/History, and Physical Education.
What does the enrollment timeline look like?
Parents/Guardians who are meaningfully interested in enrollment for the selected school year must complete an Intent to Enroll Form. Once the Intent to Enroll Form is submitted, you will receive a confirmation via email and/or via your area Community Liaison. Parents/Guardians will be notified after April 4th, 2022 with their student’s status for the selected school year. Submission of this form does not obligate the student(s) to attend Gorman Learning Center nor does it guarantee admission. A Community Liaison will continue to send you updates during the enrollment period with your student(s) status.
